Southern California Historical Aviation Foundation

The Southern California Historical Aviation Foundation (SCHAF), was founded in 1979 by Richard W. Millar, a retired executive of Southern California's Aerospace industry. It is a non-profit organization registered with the State of California. The purpose of the Foundation is to memorialize, inspire, educate, and to focus on key roles that various organizations and individuals have played in aviation development in Southern California. Specifically through the museum, the SCHAF works on restoring and preserving historic artifacts and documents. It maintains a research library and is capable of conducting hands-on training of line technicians and intern engineers.

SCHAF's function is to raise funds and project long-range plans through its President and Board of Trustees.

Current membership in SCHAF is approximately 400 members from the Los Angeles South Bay Area and beyond. Any declared member of the Vintage Aircraft Boosters Club and/or an associate of SCHAF is automatically a member of the Western Museum of Flight. Membership is $25 per year or $250 (lifetime) which is regarded as a charitable contribution and thereby fully tax-deductible. Applications are available at the Museum hangar and may also be downloaded from this web site. Moreover, the Western Museum of Flight has been receiving support from a broad spectrum of companies interested in preserving Southern California aviation history. Many corporations have supported the museum through various avenues of resources.

Become a member of SCHAF, the Western Museum of Flight and the Vintage Aircraft Boosters Club by filling out a
Membership and Questionnaire Form. Forms are also available from any SCHAF Trustee, or by mail from the Museum.
